I am James Rouault, a freelance filmmaker, photographer and petrol head.  My journey began as a young teenager taking stills of motorsport, for which I won a local award, and documenting my kart races on a GoPro which fuelled my interest in the film industry. Now having graduated with a First-Class Hons with a BA in film production, I am a versatile filmmaker with a passion for how the visual arts contribute to the production of compelling films and videos that captivate and inspire audiences.

A goal-oriented and collaborative professional, I flourish working in fast-paced, high pressure environments to bring creative visions to life and I work with the assurance to deliver on time and on budget.  I have produced marketing content for a bike company and I have led a small team in the production of several talks for TEDx Winchester. I have filmed live music events and worked on my own and university peers’ documentaries and short films, several of which are currently on the festival circuit, some of which have won awards.

Proficient in all aspects of film production, from pre-production to post production. I have experience in producing, cinematography, location sound recording, post sound design, editing and lighting to create impactful visual and sound content.
